It's that simple ...

Lately it seems that we are hearing that people do not understand how simple it is to set up a safe room in your home. We do not normally hear this from non-technical people who read our website and understand it's simplicity - we sometimes hear it from contractors and architects who do not take the time to read the website, just the technical manuals. So please, allow me to explain how easy it is.

All you have to do is purchase a Safe Cell, an Overpressure Relief Valve, and a Through the Wall Kit. Install the Safe Cell on one side of your room and the Overpressure Relief Valve on the other side. Then test for overpressure. That's it - we've done all the engineering to ensure that the blower in the Safe Cell is calibrated to draw air in through the static resistance of the filter banks and present just the right airflow to create and maintain overpressure in your protected space.

Installation of these items is simple as well. Here's a synopsis:

  • Find a place next to a wall to mount the Safe Cell
  • Locate the studs in the wall
  • Place the wall mount bracket between two studs and mark the hole locations
  • Drill four pilot holes and two relief holes in the wall
  • Mount the wall bracket with the included lag bolts
  • Install the carbon adsorber in the Safe Cell - simple nut and bolt assembly
  • Mount the Safe Cell with the included hand nuts
  • Locate a place between two studs for the Through the Wall Kit
  • Cut a hole in the wall and install the through the wall kit
  • Install the hose between the Safe Cell and the included wall mount flange.
  • Locate a place for the Overpressure Relief Valve high up on an opposite wall
  • Cut a hole through the wall and install the Overpressure Relief Valve
  • Plug in the Safe Cell and turn it on
  • Test for overpressure - you can use incense, a cigarette, or any smoke generator to shadow the cracks in the room to see which way the air is flowing - it needs to flow outward to prove that you have overpressure

That's it - a couple of crescent wrenches, a drill, and a small hand saw is all it takes to have a military grade protected space.

For more information, please see our home and apartment .installation reference and be sure and read the entire installation and operation manual for your Safe Cell. They are available on the detail order page for every model.
