American
Safe Room is pleased to introduce our newest safe room positive
pressure filtration unit, the ASR-240.
The
ASR-240 features a nuclear-grade HEPA filter that is individually
scan tested in accordance with the MIL-STD-282 dioctyl phthalate
(DOP) test method and certified to meet MIL-F-51079D and UL
586 as required by the US Army Corps of Engineers in ETL 1110-3-498
for design of collection protection shelters to resist biological
and radiological agents.
The ASR-240 can be quickly upgraded to offer full NBC protection
by installing the optional war gas and chemical filter containing
activated nuclear grade ASZM-TEDA carbon. ASZM-TEDA is the
only carbon recognized by the US military suitable for use
in resisting war gases and radio active iodine.
The
ASR-240 is available with a full complement of connection
hardware options enabling the end user to easily install the
unit as ether a positive pressure safe room as in defense
during a Nuclear, biological and chemical event or a CDC compliant
negative pressure isolation room as used for TB isolation.
You
can choose your options - there are nine configuration modes
that will allow you to set up any type of a protected space
that you need. And, if your needs change, you can order parts
at a later date to change the configuration mode.
All
you have to do is download and review the easy-to-understand
manual (link on the left), choose your options (below), and
place an order (telephone: 541-459-1806). All of the configuration
modes can be installed with the accessories on this page.
All
of our filter accessories are designed to fit and function
together - a few simple hand tools and the ability to follow
the simple directions in the manual.

Warfare
gas filter (carbon adsorber) kit
This
kit upgrades the standard ASR-240 to a full nuclear, biological,
and chemical air filtration system, the ASR-120-NBC.
It
includes a carbon adsorber and large side plates - Installation
is simple.
The
wall mounting kit (see below) is highly recommended when using
the warfare gas filter because it raises the center of gravity
of the Safe Cell and the wall mounting kit is a simple, easy
way of securing the Safe Cell in a known location.
Please
note that due to the static resistance of this high-end carbon,
the true airflow output of the Safe Cell will be 120 cubic
meters per hour. |

ASR-WDH: Through the Wall Kit with
Hose
|
|
Through
the wall kit with hose
With
this kit, you can overpressure a room and turn it into a protected
space.
It
doesn't matter what room you choose, basement, bedroom, or
bathroom - you can have the same technology used by militaries
around the world to protect your family from airborne toxins
and carcinogens.
See
the manual for more information on how you can use either
one or two of these kits to pull air from one room and push
it into another room - creating an overpressure in your protected
space. This gives you the flexibility to mount the Safe Cell
in a closet, adjacent room, or in a cabinet.
This
kit comes with a 5-foot hose - see the Through
the Wall Kit page for more information. |

Wall
mounting kit
This
kit comes with everything you need to mount your Safe Cell
to the wall.
Due
to the star nuts that can be unscrewed by hand, you can immediately
remove the Safe Cell from the wall if you need to move it
to another room or a vehicle.
There
is a good reason that smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, and
some first aid kits come with wall mounting kits - when you
need life saving devices, you want to know where they are
at. |

12-volt
DC emergency backup blower
This
auxiliary blower instantly slips into the air outflow port
on top of the Safe Cell. It draws air through filter banks
and the existing 110-volt AC internal blower.
It
can be powered by any 12-volt power source such as a charged
automotive or marine battery. You could pull the battery from
your vehicle, bring it into your protected space and power
your Safe Cell for 12 to 24 hours - depending upon the battery
and it's charge.
This
is the same rugged blower we use in our Automatic
Bomb Shelter Ventilation Kit. |

ASR-50-BB: Emergency Backup Bellows

Emergency
backup hand pump
This
hand pump uses a reciprocating action to draw air through
the Safe Cell.
With
any type of hand pump, you cannot create an overpressure -
the laws of physics and biology dictate that it takes energy
to move air. To use that energy, you must consume oxygen,
which you are consuming while moving air.
But
you can introduce safe, breathable air into your protected
space that is drawn through the filter banks of the Safe Cell
- displacing and removing the carbon dioxide, heat, and moisture
that the occupants exhale.
See
the Emergency
Hand Pump page for more information. |

Replacement
filters
After
every known NBC event, it is prudent to replace the filters.
Having them on hand is the best way to ensure that you are
equipped to survive after the event.
The
pre-filters are most likely to get clogged with particulates
- that is their function - to trap the larger particles and
extend the life of the HEPA filter.
The
HEPA filter is an industry-standard size, but it is a special
nuclear-grade filter made just for American Safe Room. Unlike
almost all other "HEPA" filters on the market, they
are individually tested.
The
warfare gas filter (carbon adsorber) is made from a special
blend of carbon that is rated for radioactive iodine as well
as the full range of known warfare gases.
For
more information, see the Replacement
Filters page.
